“Goal” Caufield No Match For Red Hot Coyotes
Montréal — Montreal Canadiens were facing off against the Arizona Coyotes tonight in hopes of getting back into a winning streak, a hope that was shattered in the first period of tonight’s 6-3 loss. With Ben Chiarot out of the lineup, Montreal was looking to Romanov and Petry to take on the 8th seeded Central Division Coyotes, who have been red hot as of late. Clayton Keller and Lawson Crouse each had a goal and an assist, and Karel Vejmelka made 36 saves for the Coyotes (20-36-4), who won back-to-back games after defeating the Ottawa Senators 5-3 on Monday, making it 6 wins out of 7 for the Coyotes. Sam Montembeault was once again the difference maker, and not in a good way, in this one allowing four goals on seven shots before being replaced at the start of the second period by Cayden Primeau. “Goal Caufield” Cole Caufield made it 5-2 and scored eight seconds later to cut Arizona’s lead to 5-3. The win is their sixth in seven for Arizona.
